About Benjamin

I grew up on a farm in north Georgia. I moved to McDonough in 2008 to serve on staff at a local church, and coming full circle back to my childhood, made a move in 2013 to work in Finance and Administration for a family-owned business in the agricultural industry.  My wife, Lori, and children, Tyler, Ella, and Emerson, and I are members of Eagle’s Landing First Baptist Church, where I am active in the music ministry.

I was appointed to the McDonough Planning Commission in 2014, where I have focused my efforts on improving the quality of life in the City of McDonough and removing regulations that hinder the growth of small business. In the past, growth and development within the City have been fast and we have spent the last several years playing catch up. I am running for City Council, At Large, because I believe in the future of McDonough. I believe in quality growth. I believe in responsible government.

Issues

I believe this is a turning point for the City of McDonough. As development begins to pick back up, we must work hard and prepare for quality growth. Our property taxes continue to rise, and were just voted to increase again. I go to work everyday just like you do and I know the value of a dollar. I will fight to protect what you work for.

Strong Economy

We need a leader who understands the importance of thriving businesses in our community, and how they affect our overall economy, schools, and property values.

Quality Development

We need a leader who will work with community organizations and government agencies to fix the serious problems facing McDonough.

Fiscal Responsibility

We need a leader who is fiscally responsible, and can clearly handle the complex balance between providing important services and keeping property taxes low.

Every good relationship begins with trust, and that holds true for the bond between the citizens of McDonough and City Hall. Honest leadership, hard work, transparency, and fiscal accountability are representative of responsible government. I will be an accessible leader, neighbor and friend. I will make sure that the best interest of the taxpayers and families are at the heart of every decision.
